What is 花鳥風月 (Kachofugetsu)?

Kachofugetsu translates literally to “Flower, Bird, Wind, and Moon“, a Japanese phrase that celebrates the beauty of nature. It invites us to find harmony, contemplation, and inspiration in its elements.

(Flowers) symbolize fleeting beauty, renewal, and life’s quiet elegance.

(Birds) represent grace, movement, and the songs of nature that fill the air.

(Wind) embodies unseen energy, carrying whispers of change and freedom.

(Moon) reflects serenity, introspection, and a sense of calm under the night sky.

These themes are often found in traditional Japanese poetry, art, and design. They are a powerful reminder to pause, appreciate, and connect with nature.

The Rooms of Aoto Kachofugetsu

2nd Floor Japanese-Style Room: Moonlight Serenity (月)

Step into a modern take on the traditional Japanese tatami room. We’ve upgraded the space with a semi-double sofa bed and an additional semi-double mattress bed to ensure comfort without sacrificing aesthetics. Settle in for a cup of tea with the Japanese tea set, seated at the low wooden table, surrounded by soft zabuton floor pillows. This room is perfect for unwinding, evoking a calm evening under the moonlight.

2nd Floor Bedroom: Quiet Song of Nature (鳥)

The subtle beauty of this room lies in the details. Birds play among blue hydrangeas in a peaceful, natural moment painted by 18th century artist Jakuchu Ito. Floor length mirror and beam clothing bar unit for a fashionable and modern custom closet storage solution. The red accent lamp gives a warm glow, perfect for a restful stay after a day of exploring Tokyo.

3rd Floor Bedroom: Winds of Tradition (風)

Guarded by the powerful Raijin (Thunder God) and Fujin (Wind God), this room embodies bold energy and timeless mythology. The vivid wallpaper blends deep reds, greens, and striking gold and black tones, creating an awe-inspiring atmosphere. As guardians of Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, Raijin and Fujin bring protection and a touch of dramatic flair to this unforgettable space inspired by 17th century artist Sotatsu Tawaraya.

3rd Floor Bedroom: Plum Blossoms in Bloom (花)

This golden retreat glows with elegance and tranquility. A river like black ink flows and delicate plum blossoms emerge like poetry, capturing the spirit of a quiet spring awakening. It’s a space where beauty flourishes in a painting by 18th century artist Korin Ogata.
